Meet David

David is an artist with an endless encyclopaedia of information in his head. With facts ranging from King Tut to American politics, he is armed with lots of inspiration when it comes to his artwork. He often reads about current events and thinks of unique ways to portray it in a creative format.

One of David’s biggest inspirations for his art is the environment. Passionate about climate change, he makes it his duty to use recycled materials to create his colourful pieces of artwork.

Putting use to unwanted objects, you’ll often find reused containers, natural materials and even old shipping pallets in his work. On smaller projects, David can be found scouring the Artbox studio for scraps of paper and pieces of cardboard that he can collage together. Also known as a master of colour, he likes to paint whatever he finds, adding life and character to the reused objects.

While at Artbox, David has had the opportunity to be proactive with his work. Not only has he had the chance to sell, but he has also entered his work into art competitions all over the UK.

Most recently, he submitted to the Coffee Art Project in New York City! He has even had his art shown in special exhibitions such as one at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Outside of Artbox, his love for art still shines. Nearly every week he explores different galleries and exhibitions to help get his creative ideas flowing. Often inspired by what he sees, he tries to apply similar techniques to his own projects, giving it his own David spin.

You’ll be able to see some of David’s work at our next studio exhibition, One World, on the 26th March 2020. To find out more about One World, click here.
