Why did you choose this art?” asks Shruti.

It wasn’t easy because there were many pieces. But we had to think about our office, what would make us happy everyday,” says Sarah Benioff, Director at Cripplegate Foundation & Islington Giving.

Artbox artists, Shruti and Bobbi, visited the offices of Cripplegate Foundation & Islington Giving, to see their artwork decorating the Foundation’s office. Bobbi has been an artist at Artbox for two years, bringing bright colours, inspired by Warhol. Shruti is proudly introduced as “the artist in her family”, and has been creating at Artbox for almost four years.

We are big fans and supporters of Artbox,” shares Sarah. Cripplegate Foundation & Islington Giving has given to help run art programmes at Artbox, but after Sarah attended Artbox’s latest exhibit, decided to purchase pieces to colour their walls.

People have noticed the artwork not just in the office but also passing by. And everyone says, “Wow! Where did you get that? They come up and read your names and descriptions. So it has started a lot of interesting conversations.”

Interesting conversations were sparked between the Artbox artists and their patrons about inspirations for art, stories from the studio and about inclusivity.

Do you believe it is important for offices to become more inclusive?” asks Shruti.

Great question! Yes, I do think it is really important for offices to be more inclusive and there are so many ways to make an office more inclusive,” says Sarah. “From hiring staff with different skills and ways of thinking, to how a building can be more welcoming.”

Offices need more paintings!” says Bobbie. “Yes! More colour!” How offices look are really important, if they are welcoming, if they are colourful. They make you feel good,” says Sarah, agreeing with Bobbi.

When asked later what she thought about her art being displayed in the Foundation’s offices, Bobbi shares, “I had happy tears. It was amazing seeing people enjoying my work.
