Meet Hisba

It would be difficult to picture Artbox without Hisba. Everyone who has passed the studio doors, attended one of our exhibitions, or even just heard of the name ‘Artbox’ is more than likely to have come across Hisba and her work.

At Artbox, Hisba is considered a talented artist, a friend, but also a mentor always eager to offer guidance and support. She joined us in January 2011 when we were still in our early days. As time went by and Hisba’s confidence grew, she offered to take on more responsibility beyond her work as an artist. This started with volunteering, helping around the studio, leading sessions and assisting fellow artists on a one-to-one basis.

Nowadays, her artistic contribution touches people outside of the Artbox circle. Hisba has taught her passion for abstract and geometrics to corporate groups and adults, recently conducting a workshop for 28 people from the School for Social Entrepreneurs alongside two other artists. It is with a radiating smile that Hisba recounts these experiences, ‘they make me feel more confident, really happy and professional.’

As Hisba proudly takes on the role of art teacher and leader within the studio, her identity as an artist is also expanding way beyond. She was one of 80 artists (out of 900 applicants) selected to exhibit her art at King’s Place from 28th October this year. Hisba’s dedication to her practice has really paid off. Many of her pieces have been purchased by corporates, a private hospital and individuals.
