Lana

Lana enjoys exploring a variety of ways of making art, from highly detailed diamond painting that Lana describes as ‘relaxing’ to a large collage piece Lana created from recycled riso prints and artworks to create an abstract flower piece, to more recently exploring set design.

In Lana’s most recent work, where she created a set of a ski scene, Lana made a model of herself skiing and hand painted and made a ski lift and trees from card.

Lana was inspired by another artist in the Saturday group, Hisba, who had created a set design of a beach scene.

Lana enjoys watching the various elements of the scene come to life and the scene evolving. She particularly enjoyed creating herself, in a ski sledge and the instructor who was guiding her.

In this way, Lana’s most recent work represents herself and her experience of skiing.

“I felt happy making this piece. I enjoyed making myself in foam clay. This was one of my favourite creations, as skiing is one of my hobbies, and that is the inspiration for making the piece.”
