Mastering still life with Paul
Each Saturday you will find Paul, a pot plant and an array of paints or crayons at the Artbox studio. Paul began his art career six years ago at Artbox. He has experimented with art for many years since school. Now he does a lot of art at home in the kitchen where he has lots of space to experiment with his art.
He specialised in landscapes and abstracts, however over the last year he decided to focus on still life. “I branched out into still life by painting bowls of fruit and various things like that. I thought it would be interesting to do pot plants,” he said.
“It is easier to do something if you have an actual thing in front of you. When you’re doing imaginary landscapes, you’ve really got to do it from your imagination.”
Paul’s art expresses how he feels in the moment. Encouraged to try a different colour and style each time, Paul decided to do this as he goes.
